Do We Let Breathe?

With greater authority and remote access comes greater temptation to micromanage and disturb natural processes. Many natural processes have been cycling for hundreds and thousands of years. They are beautiful to behold in all their rugged consistency. Natural processes are not perfect, but they are steady and they always move gently forward.

Cameras are everywhere now. They are not just viewing what we do in public spaces, but also collecting data about how we live, work and shop, worship..... how long we linger in certain spaces and much much more.

It used to feel comforting that when you had a cell phone in your hand, that you could always reach out for assistance or reach a family member if there was an emergency.

But things are now much more complicated now. Our ¨smart ¨ phones and other ¨smart¨ devices in our homes and workplaces are collecting so much data about all we are and all we say and type and where we go and how fast or slow we go there. Every aspect of our lives has been sliced and diced, collected somewhere large or small, hidden or public ......and in many cases, sold to companies or governments who may benefit from that data.

In the business world too, there are a plethora of methods that managers can use to monitor and micromanage those whom they believe are their underlings. Cameras, keystroke monitors, screen recorders. Some of this monitoring is revealed to the underlings, and some of it is not.

The thought that has occupied my mind this morning is simply this. Are we still allowing people to breathe? Are we trusting those around us to grow and prosper that which is within their care, or are we so mistrusting that we feel we must micromanage every moment of another human being´s day? Just because we can see and hear and monitor every moment of an employee´s day, doesn´t mean we should try to virtually control their every action. Humans needs to breathe. When humans sense that their every moment is under surveillance...they start to behave in less human ways.

I don´t know if you have ever had the misfortune of doing telemarketing and being handed a ¨script¨ which the employer expected you to utter word for word to whichever ¨target¨ you connected with on the phone. Having the words you speak controlled 100% by an employer is truly a terrible thing to experience.

So what I am proposing is the opposite of micromanaging and overbearing control.
I am talking the spiritual habit of holding up the greater good. I am talking about having faith in humanity and bringing joy and liberty to our daily lives. Let´s face it....no one likes to be micromanaged. Even when there is the possibility of making an error, we still don´t want to be micromanaged. Our inner being instinctively knows we are not created for this. Our spirits were created to sing with individuality and imagination.

I realize that in the workplace or other organizations we come across situations where we need ¨coaching¨. But coaching people and controlling people are 2 entirely different approaches. When we coach another human being, we are acknowledging their own desire to do well, to improve and increase in whatever they are putting their hand to.   A person who submits to coaching is aware of their own power to succeed or fail and is aiming for success. People who are success minded love to be coached, because they know it will provide increase in their lives. Coaching is empowering. Controlling is not.

Conversely, when we micromanage another human being, we are saying quite boldly that we do not trust their instincts, we do not trust their desire to improve and are circumventing their own autonomy with our own oppressive desire to control another human being.

If you have been blessed with a position of supervision, or management in any kind of organization,  I pray that you will choose the option of coaching rather than controlling. By choosing to coach you will be honoring the humanity and dignity of those you supervise.  What goes around always comes around. Sowing seeds of respect for other humans into your daily life breeds respect into your own future and the future of your loved ones. An atmosphere of dignity and honor has healing powers and brings peace to all who have the privilege of living in it.

Create an atmosphere of respect and consideration. Create an atmosphere where you sow kindness and gentle suggestions into an over controlled and over monitored generation. It´s really hard to turn back technology.  But you can choose honor and dignity and considerate kindness.

Peace,
Carla

Self Employed or Employee...C'est Ton Choix

Have you ever thought about how completely "opposite" are the mindsets of self employed folks vs those who work for a company or corporation that they do not own?

I think the lines only get blurred when employees are given or earn stock options that, in fact, make them into partial "owners" of the company for which they are also employed. Employees, then empowered by their stock ownership begin to act more like owners/managers because their future net worth will be influenced by their job performance.

Self employed people realize in their heart of hearts....that

" If It's to Be....it's Up to Me!".

They are usually independent folks, and if they are not independent folks, they find out soon that someone else in their circle will try to run their business for them....take them out of a position of control or influence.

Being an employee is relaxing and stressful all at the same time. It is relaxing....because at the end of the day....the buck does not stop with you. The big decisions are made by management. The bills are paid by the company, not from your own pocket. In addition the direction and mission statement of the company is crafted by management....not you.

But then again ....the stressful part is the flip side. It can be stressful to be a part of a company whose mission statement does not reflect your own values or direction in life. It can be stressful to be a follower, when you have a lot to say and would prefer to be "in charge" to a certain degree.

It can be actually quite painful to be forced into a "sheep like" status when you have leadership qualities and can not fill your potential as an employee of the company.

Have you ever felt torn between these two lifestyles? Employee or self employed..... C'est Ton Choix!

Peace,
Carla

The Secret to Think and Grow Rich Revealed | Bob Proctor

One of my favorite things to do, is simply assist other people to understand little tiny simple things that they can do to improve their lives. Nothing in life is guaranteed, but as Tony Robbins like to say
" Success leaves clues".

Therefore, I do not shy away from making suggestions, from sharing ideas which can help nudge you forward.

So....my nudge for today is this. Stop looking for mysterious answers from dead air. What is dead air? It's the nothingness that you are listening to when you are staring at the sky or looking out the window...listening to nothing.

Yes, I know that people can receive random directions from God...and they describe how they received a message from God which helped mold and create the success they now have.
But I think it is fair to say that most of us do not hear God's audible voice on a daily basis.

Therefore, from where are you getting your guidance??? And just to be frank....have you sought any guidance at all from people of value? Who are people of value? People of value, are people that you respect and admire......people who have accomplished similar goals to what you are aiming for based upon your own list of written goals.

It bothers me sometimes, with the onslaught of new age dogma, how "gurus" are teaching people to "empty" their minds.
What are folks supposed to do with any empty mind? Do you think Elon Musk has an empty mind? No, Elon Musk's mind is full and working at full speed towards creating new projects and businesses. He has grand ideas and because he knows how to inspire people, they willingly invest their money into almost anything he tries to invent.

Nothing is nothing. Nothing is not inspiring. It is blank and empty.
It has no value and is devoid of truth.

We want to be full.....full of wisdom and creativity and knowledge and inventions. We want to embrace life with vigor and joy. We want to chase our dreams with passion and energy. We want to work with like minded people who challenge us to grow.

Well, that's all for now. I've included a sample of a positive video from Bob Proctor. He has a knack for making people feel good and energized .

Today, try to fill your "dead air" time with videos or recordings, or music and teachings that encourage your life goals and empower you forward.

Productively yours,
Carla.

When You Make a Change....Give yourself Time to Acclimate

I hope you're havin' a good day. If you're one of the folks who stumbled upon my blog looking for some empowerment and motivation ....then I just might have a wee thought for ya today.

Perhaps you've been reading lots of blogs and books and have started putting some plans of action into place to make a change in your life. It takes a lot of gumption to wake up one day and decide that you don't like where your life is heading and have the courage to steer that boat into a new direction.

So maybe it has been a few months and you now know that it's not easy, but you know that it was the right choice to set your hands to a new plan of action. You've crafted your written list of life goals and now you've actually started to take action on at least one of those written goals.

But now, like many of us mere mortals, you're starting to feel uneasy. You hope that  you are making progress and feel like you're on the right track, but it all feels just soooooo new and strange. The newness and strangeness of it all, is enough to make you run back to your old comforting haunts and back to the ruts you once lived in. I want to encourage you to not give up now. The discomfort you might be feeling is simply your heart and body's way of telling you that it needs time to ACCLIMATE to the new and better direction of your life.

When any human being make s new life choice and starts heading into a more positive direction, it can literally takes years of feeling out of sorts before you start to feel comfortably like yourself again. New things ALWAYS bring a sense of strangeness and discomfort. We aren't used to the new pathways yet and our inner "curmudgeon" might just be griping about all the extreme changes.

But I just want to encourage you today.....just because you're feeling out of sorts doesn't mean that you have made a wrong choice. Take some time to get accustomed to your new way of setting and accomplishing your written goals. It is a very different lifestyle compared to just living from the hip.

Give your mind, will and emotions the rest that they require in order to start to begin to feel at home with your new goal centered life. It may not feel like the real "you" just yet. Give yourself time to get used to the massive changes you have undertaken. Don't doubt yourself and PLEASE don't give up.

If you are writing down goals and taking steps to accomplish them, you are on the right path. May God bless you with wisdom as you adapt to this new lifestyle filled with promise and adventure.

Peaceful productivity,
Carla

Authors and Thinkers ....Authors and Thinkers

Yes, we are one and the same. You really can't be an author if you are not a thinker.....and if you are a thinker....then I highly encourage you to become an author.

I have seen around me that there are many many thinkers, but there is a lack of confidence in the common folk, in the leap perceived in jumping from "just thinking and speaking" to thinking and putting onto black and white the written words that you are thinking about.

Perhaps, of course, there is the fear that somehow or in some way one might make a mistake and have written something that is inaccurate at best or even false....at worst. But don't let the fear of making of making a mistake hinder your progress in sharing something of value with the world. We just might need what you have to say. Your thoughts may bring breakthrough to someone half way around the world.

But I want to encourage you, my friends and colleagues around this mighty globe....that you not consider your life as smaller than it needs to be. It came to my attention some years ago, that someone somewhere across the world might actually need my thoughts and inspiration to make their own dreams come true. I  came to see myself as someone that could potentially inspire and motivate others. I sensed that who God had created me to be was not necessarily for the gains of those who know me locally, but perhaps and maybe even more importantly, for those who might never meet me in person, but who will someday and in some format read my words or hear my speeches or songs remotely via recordings on line or otherwise.

It was from either of two documentary films either "Blue Gold" or "Flow" that a mild mannered gentleman from Asia declared softly and quite prophetically that this age is the season "For the common man". This
confirmed what I had begun to sense in my own heart.....that the access granted to us via the internet was and could be maximized as a POWERFUL SUCCESS vehicle where access to capital or people of influence was not necessarily required to gain entry or momentum.

Wisdom always does spread to wherever it is welcomed. Empowerment flows to where it is treasured. Encouragement trickles to starving hearts....no matter where they reside or what their yearly income is....or what their nation's GDP happens to be. May God bless the internet, and keep it open and free.

And so, to sum up my blurts from this early morning chat, I just want to encourage you to take a small step of faith, if indeed you are a thinker, but have not yet made the leap over to calling yourself an author. If you  know that you have good things to share with humanity, then please hear me, my brother, my sister......
YOU MUST WRITE.

Peaceful productivity.

Paid to be Me

Not a pipe dream anymore. Folks like Tim Ferriss and Seth Godin have proven that not only can you survive and get by just by doing what you wanna do....but you can actually build an economic empire using the same strategy.
And now it will come to pass that women too will start squeaking out a beautiful stream of coin by following their own hearts. Yes, it might take just a wee bit more chutzpah than the average gal possesses, but it is become more within the realm of possibility than ever before.

Just don't count yourself out. Don't let any belief system force you to limit your choices.  Keep your options open and know that the earth is yours because God gave it to you. You are inheriting the earth because you are teachable enough to learn how the ropes work and use them with all your might.

So, yes, it is a good day today...because today I know that the day has come....I am being
"paid to be me".

Peaceful productivity.

May This Day

May this day bring you space...for not only your feet to rest, but for your spirit to rest too.
May this day bring you a name ....a name of a human that will inspire and encourage your journey....the journey that you have selected with God's help. May that person whom God leads you to, possess some of the knowledge and information you need in your current situation. May he/she be willing to share that precious data with you in a format you can digest.

Don't be afraid to pray. Some folks have the idea that if they get God involved in their decision making process, that God is going to to mess up their lives, and force them to live in an impoverished place without the modern amenities of life. But where did we get that from? I don't believe that God wants to interrupt our decision making processes. He wants us to fellowship with Him and get His inspiration and then grow up and make the decisions ourselves.

Yes, there are times it seems that we float on God's choices, He seems to know that there are times when we really aren't capable of doing what we need to do for ourselves....so His Spirit carries us through those times. But then there are the times when God is asking us to mature and to grow up. He didn't create us as robots. He respects our free will and expects us to use it.

Yes, it certainly is scarier to make our own decisions, because then the buck actually stops with us. We make our own choices and somehow can't blame God or any other human for the choices we have made. That is what maturity is all about. Being willing to let the buck stop with us. Being willing to be accountable for our own choices.

And yes, God is still there, not carrying us like a little infant, but walking beside us like two adults talking quietly as they walk together on a path through the park. God respects you. See Him as He takes time to be with you and you with Him. See Him listening eagerly to your thoughts and ideas. See Him taking His time to respond and think about what you have said to Him. He believes in you and all that you are and all that you have in your mind to do and to be. Listen to Him and He will listen to you.

Peace.

Let's Discuss Tony Robbins New Book "Money- Master the Game"

Ok, I'm still chugging through the book, both in paper form and via the audio version of it.

At this point, I am not quite as thrilled with it as I first was, simply because I feel like I am being sold mutual funds and financial advisors. Is this book an ad for STronghold financial, High Tower, and Vanguard Index Funds???

I hope I am simply jumping to conclusions and maybe I've missed some of the better chapters, but please Tony don't tell me you're just going to sell me this stuff. I want to learn facts, accurate information, and strategies.

That's kinda why I still appreciate Robert Kiyosaki's books, because although his tone is somewhat snide and aggressive at times, at least you feel like you are getting an honest analogy of the modern economy and investment horizon. I'd rather be told the truth from a "mean man" than be coddled into compromise by someone who is nicey nice.

Anyway, as I said before, I hope I am wrong and I've simply not read the best parts of Tony's book yet.
Have you read or listened to any of it yet? What were your impressions?

Peaceful productivity.

Your Brain is an Organ ....he said.

So here I am quoting Tim Ferriss  yet again.
But the truth is that I search high and low for information that empowers me and my journey.
I pay a premium in life energy sifting through heap loads of lack luster mediocre non inspiring data, just crying for a mere morsel of wisdom. Therefore I don't care how far I have to run and dig and sift in order to find a fabulous diamond of use-able treasure to pass on to you precious souls, my readers.

Sometimes that treasure comes in just one simple sentence, not a whole book, not a video series, and not a three box set of high priced CD.s

So there I was listening to an older download of one of Tim Ferriss's blog's podcasts, and he
said this simple statement in such a way that I began to have a better understanding of what makes me tick.

He said "Your brain is an organ". and then he described in an answer to someone who had emailed him a question to answer on his podcast in which they asked
"How do you get yourself out of a stagnant funk/poor low energetic unfocused state of being" ?  (paraphrased by me )

Tim Ferriss responded by stating that because our brains are also organs, we need to consider that they will also function more energetically when responding to exercise. So his answer to his listener's question was ..."To get myself out of a funk or poor mental state, I simply do a short burst of physical activity, even as short as 10 minutes on a stationary bike or 500 meters on a rowing machine. Even just one short burst of exercise jump starts his brain and he gets his mojo back to allow him to  begin working on one of his stated goals in a better frame of mind.

His point was well taken. We far too often disenfranchise our minds from our body, as if our brains are not even organic. But our brains are certainly quite "human" and earthy and respond to exercise just the same as our leg muscles do. The response is powerful and it is most encouraging to realize that the impact can be felt in as short a time span as only 10 minutes.

Hopefully you get the impact of this revelation as I did. I tried it just today. Just 10 minutes on a stationary bike today and I'm typing up a storm today. Emotions are fleeting. AS Tony Robbins taught us....that YES we CAN change our state. We don't have to stay stuck. We can change our lot in life. We can change how we feel by what we do and by what we think and by what we say to ourselves.

So thank you once again, Dear Tim Ferriss for yet another nugget of good advice. God bless.

Peaceful productivity,
Carla

Choosing a Pacesetter as Napoleon Hill taught

Napoleon Hill's teachings don't really have an expiry date. Most, if not all successful men and women in business today have at some point in their lives become students under Napoleon Hill's teaching. Some have just learned indirectly from him, because they are/were under the tutelage of a leader who had already absorbed his teachings.

Have you?

Napoleon Hill wrote that epic little book called "Think and Grow Rich". His advice comes across as both humble, astute, kind and progressive. His work was a precursor to the work of motivational "scientists" such as the Tony Robbins of our day.

So today I wanted to talk about Mr. Hill's recommendation that we each find a "pacesetter".
Maybe you're not familiar with the term. A "pacesetter" in Mr. Hill's lingo, is simply someone that is successful in a similar niche as to what you aspire to, whom you can use as a marker maker, so that you can use his/her success to gauge and pace your own progress toward your goal.

Let' say for example, that your goal is to have a passive income stream from real estate equalling no less than $2000 net profit per month by the time you are 55 years old. Would you look for a pacesetter who hates real estate but loves the stock market? Nope. You want to choose a pacesetter who is in the same zone as you are mentally and in terms of their goals and lifestyle. You would want to find someone who has already gathered a bit of steam in real estate and who you can access some of their expertise, either personally or through their written or video work. Ideally you want a pacesetter whose work you can monitor either through the net or through their published works. If you don't know what your pacesetter is up to, you won't know if you are keeping pace with him/her and the motivating factor will be lost.

The internet has expanded our opportunities in terms of how we access mentors. We don't necessarily have to know our mentors personally in order for them to have a powerful impact on our lives.

For example, Kenneth Copeland has a powerful christian ministry across the globe. The last I heard, his U.S. branch collected close to 150 million dollars in revenue in one year's time. (don't quote me on that, as I haven't double checked the numbers) The reason I mention this, is that most of his "partners" or supporters have not met Kenneth Copeland personally but yet they have given him a place in their lives as a relevant mentor. They read his books, his newsletters, his websites, his twitter feed, and listen to his teachings via CD or podcasts etc. Kenneth is mentoring millions of people without even having to leave his studio. Yes, he does travel a lot as well, but it is worth mentioning that the majority of the mentoring happens remotely via mass media outlets. These outlets are not accessible to "only" his  ministry "partners" as anyone can
buy or read his books or listen to his teachings on Youtube.

I want to encourage you, if perhaps you have felt that mentors are so very hard to find. I have felt that way very often, especially because there seems to be so few female mentors that I really admire enough to want to pick their brain. There is some legit value to a lil' bit o' healthy competition, even if it is only comparable in the virtual world. But I take comfort in knowing that I am living in a day and time in which I can have
unlimited access to a plethora of brilliant minds just because I happen to have an internet connection. If God blesses my journey to the point that I will eventually have a personal networking opportunity with any of my virtual mentors, then that will be another day of joy.. But a personal relationship with a mentor is no longer absolutely necessary.

You need a pacesetter, so you have some friendly competition to motivate you and inspire you. You need a pacesetter so that you have someone with whom you can assess your own progress. For example, if Tom and Jane have acquired 50 new sales leads in one month, why do you only have 3? Pacesetters inspire action and confidence because they show you what is possible, what is do-able and what you can hope for. Choosing a good pacesetter will help you focus on whatever it is you really want.

Choose a pacesetter who matches your set of values. Make sure it is someone of high moral fiber.
Wishing your blessings and inspiration this afternoon. Peace.

Changing State

Trying to get yourself motivated and just can't?
Try one of Tony Robbin's fave coins of advice, which he calls "changing your state".

It isn't something complicated. For me, I can change my state with
my own personalized prescription of 41 minutes of walking on the electric treadmill.
Why 41 minutes? Just 'cause over the years, I've realize that that's all that it takes for
me to change my frame of mind, my perspective and my physiology.

Sometimes, we just get stuck in proverbial inertia...
Wikipedia describes inertia in these words:
  1. Inertia is the resistance of any physical object to any change in its state of motion, including changes to its speed and direction. It is the tendency of objects to keep moving in a straight line at constant velocity.
That's a pretty accurate description of "stuck humans". We resist any change in speed or direction because we are comfortable with what path we have been on for any length of time.
We instinctively resist change, because it is new and unfamiliar.

Even when we know that we are really ready for something new to come about in our lives, we still have that natural draw to cling to what is our personal "comfort zone".

So, one of the ways that Tony Robbins helps empower his "students" is by teaching them how to "change their state". When we change state, we have a new emotional condition and a new set of physical circumstances. We mentally prepare ourselves for good new things.

So, before you hedge your bets on some enormous New Year's Resolution, consider
allowing yourself a change in state first, to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally for whatever new idea that you have in store for this coming year.

Blessings, empowerment and peace.

Carla

Name That Blog

Years back when I first started this ole Blogger blog, I was on a thought bender.
My bent was towards empowerment and I felt so totally empowered to realize that everything I ever wanted or wished to know was certainly within my grasp. My months in college and university had filled me with a fresh zeal for the power of "access". Knowing the right professors, experts and connections gives you access to folks who can answer some of your most pressing questions. Then when you get your first question answered to your own satisfaction, you are able to move on to another brilliant inquiry. As the scriptures say "Line by Line, precept upon precept".(isaiah 28:13)

I fell in love with the notion that not only was I powerful because I valued my own questions and the process of inquiry, but I realized that I was powerful because I discovered I had learned how to
find out anything I wanted to know.

It wasn't just a spiritual process, although that remains a vitally important part of my personal learning process. Prayer is part and parcel of the learning and inquiry process. I ask God to help me continue to grow and to lead me into the knowledge and fields of inquiry that He wants me to pursue. I ask God to help me to retain the knowledge that I glean. I ask God for access to more teachers and mentors as the time is right.

I have found that women in particular don't necessarily take their own quest for knowledge very seriously, especially if they are mothers. The needs of their children and their spouse often cloud their inquiries or dull them into apathetic science. But, after reading this post, you won't fall for that mistake will you ?

But I have found that a woman who comprehends and respects her own capacity to learn and gain knowledge is a better and happier mom. Don't lose sight of your curiosity. Let it lead you into more data...more factual information. Women who gain mastery of a subject became capable of accomplishing anything they set their minds to. ( for more on this idea, read the book called "The Confidence Code by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman)

So, permit me to wrap up this post....merely by repeating what I came to believe when I started this humble blog. Ladies and gentlemen, elders and students, rich and poor and everybody inbetween....let me roar and empower you today....because it is still true... YOU really CAN Know ANYTHING. May 2015 show you that the access to knowledge you long for is right there waiting for you to chase down and make it your own!

Gotta Sing

Are you a singer? Well then you jus' gotta sing. I don't care if it's to your dogs, cats, or your distant relatives gathered around a piano during the christmas holidays. But if God gave you a gift of music that simply stirs your heart, you really have no reason to let it go.

Not all of us are going to get hit records, or get multimillion dollar recording contracts. But that doesn't mean we should fulfill the artistic and musical callings and gifts that God has given to us.

I have often thought that mankind is too obsessed with extreme sensationalism rather than simply celebrating the gifts that God gives.

As the bible says '
"Give and it shall be given unto you."
Therefore, maybe what God has given you to give to the world is your simple song. Don't be stingy with your beautiful voice, your cool guitar picking, or your other musical adventures. The world needs more beautiful music.
Blessed to be blessing.

Press on.
